Our Story
Joe and Jonah first met as tech YouTubers in 2008 and began building iPhone apps together in 2009. We’ve launched countless apps since then and have previously worked at Apple, Instagram, and Skillshare. At the end of 2024, we started Mixy as a fun way for fans to make mashups of their favorite songs.
We publicly iterated prototypes on TikTok, which led to over 350k pre-orders before launch. Mixy debuted on June 19th, hitting #1 in Music and reaching #3 overall in the App Store. Since then, more than 1.5M users have created and shared over 18M mashups.
Problem & Vision
We believe Remixing is the new Shuffle.
Fans are searching for infinite ways to experience their favorite artists, and the tools to remix and create derivatives are far too complicated.
For artists, derivative musical works are being created at an exponential rate, but artists aren’t getting credited, and billions of dollars are being left on the table.
Mixy flips this model. We celebrate artists by letting fans directly manipulate and share versions of their songs. Every time a fan shares their creation, the artist is automatically credited and their work is distributed more widely. Because Mixy owns the creation layer, attribution is native. We auto-credit every source track and pair it with a music-first social network built for playback and discovery.
The future isn’t millions of irrelevant AI songs, it’s millions of recognizable songs evolving through thousands of shared versions.
If we truly succeed, Mixy will be the platform that redefines music in the age of derivative works. What TikTok is to YouTube, Mixy is to Spotify.
We’re tackling this because we love music, see a timely problem, and bring a world-class background in creative tools and consumer social.

Derivative musical works are being created at an exponential rate, but artists aren’t getting credited, and billions of dollars are being left on the table.
Every year, millions of songs are uploaded to music platforms with uncredited samples. Generative AI has accelerated this problem: music is being trained on artists’ work and re-uploaded without attribution, ownership, or financial stake for the creators who made it possible.

We’ll be the first to establish proper licensing and attribution standards for a future where songs constantly evolve into new versions. Every derivative creation, whether a mashup, remix, AI-generated variation, or fan edit, will flow back to the original artist with automatic credit and revenue.
Music expression and consumption will no longer be limited to static recordings. Instead, the world will experience songs as living, evolving works. Fans will become co-creators, artists will be celebrated more widely than ever, and the industry will unlock billions in new value.
In this future, music is not just listened to. It’s played with, passed around, and endlessly reinterpreted, with artists always at the center.
